Roof Cleaning & Refurbishment

Great Outdoors and In have an enviable reputation locally for specialist roof cleaning and coating services. Our professional service is extremely thorough, enabling you to prolong the life of your roof, and the results are fantastic! On a number of occasions we have recommend refurbishment where a client has been looking to renew the roof, a hugely expensive exercise. Very often, just a refurbishment of the roof is all that is required.

When cleaning roofs on domestic properties, this doesn't always provide us with the opportunity to use a boom or scissor lift, because of the weight of the machinery. We use a combination of roof ladders (where possible) and the latest fall restraint system which adheres to Health and Safety recommendations.

Operators wear safety harnesses attached to a positioning rope, and a separate fall arrest rope. This is then attached to a suitable ground anchorage point, and by using this process we have achieved SAFE contractor accreditation.

This provides the operator the maximum protection in the event of a slip and ensures our operatives are working as safe as possible when working on your home. Please note we do not use scaffolding as this offers very little protection to our staff.

The roof cleaning process is as follows:-

• We protect and cover non treatment roof areas with tarpaulins
• The main guttering down pipes are then blocked (Unlike other organistaions we do not allow the dirty water to pour out of a disconnected down pipe. We use a gutter vacuum system which allows for continuous disposal of the water away from the property)
• We then pressure wash the roof (using the fall restraint system, we remove lichen, algae, moss, fungi, dirt and other pollutants)
• We then replace missing, broken or damaged tiles, re-point and re-bed if required
• The soffits, guttering and fascias are then cleaned.
• We remove the temporary block from the down-pipes.
• Then apply moss killer to eliminate any remaining spores (these are invisible to the naked eye, and this further application will also prolong the life expectancy of your roof)
• Remove tarpaulins and waste, and wash down all hard surfaces
• We then clean the windows using our portable 'Reach and Wash' system (this utilises pure water)
• A final option is available to re-colour or seal the roof tiles. We can offer the complete Isonit roof coating range of coatings, which have a manufactures guarantee of five years, and life expectancy in excess of 10 years. At the quotation stage we can show you the various coating samples, and explain the benefits. We can also supply you with addresses of completed local projects, so you can ascertain the quality of our work.
